My Choice for 2023s Book-of-the-Year

North Woods is a book will live inside you once you’ve read it and that’s a good thing. Daniel Mason has written a wonderful book full of history and ghosts and incredible characters. Along with the price of admission you get a history of American written vernacular (my favorite being the 1950s true crime genre). There are horrible events and great beauty as well. At the end of it all, you realize your insignificance in this great big land and it’s absolutely okay.
